Shalom Zone Training Graduates 49 Residents

Commissioningceremony 2

ceremony 3By Frank Austin

Saturday, August 15 marked a milestone in the history of Macon – Bibb with the Commissioning Ceremony of the Shalom Zone class of 2015. As the Coordinator of the 10 Shalom Zone Areas in Macon-Bibb it was my privilege and honor to conduct and officiate the Commissioning ceremony at Macon-Bibb Commissioner Chambers. I presented 49 residents with their Certificate of Completion from Northwind Institute though Drew University. I witnessed the residents’ personal growth as we worked diligently over a course of 3 months which consisted of a 7 session course and online requirements.

Listening to all the communities present their plan for moving their community forward was amazing. The residents took the oath entitled Credo Of A Minister Of Shalom. The Credo states that they will Go to the people, Live among them, Learn from them, Plan with them, Work with them, Start with what they have, And build on what they have, Teach by Showing, Learn by doing, Not a showcase, Not bits and Pieces, but a system, Not to confirm but to transform, Not for relief but release…

Transformation has taken hold of the Shalom Zone communities. Our communities have been empowered, educated, unified, blessed and have developed a strategic plan that will create systemic change from within.

A Special thanks to Communities of Shalom National Trainers Jim Bergdoll and Robert Duncan and Region Shalom trainer Travis Blackwell for their hard work and dedication to this cause.

Special Thanks to Macon-Bibb Mayor Robert Reichert ,Commissioner Elaine Lucas, Commissioner Virgil Watkins Jr. , Asst County Manager Charles Coney, Chris Floore and the entire Macon-Bibb County Commissioners for supporting and funding this movement to move our city forward.
